The HSCC again invited Classic Clubmans to display a car on their stand at
RACE RETRO Stoneleigh.
The Phantom P79 B Class of Mike Sales was on the stand with a range of cars from the HSCC Championship Formulas.
Two members of the Classic Clubmans Steering Group manned the stand on each of the three days of the show. Many thanks to Dave Facer for towing the Phantom to and from Stoneleigh and for manning the stand Thursday, Friday and Sunday. Mike Sales was also in attendance on those days. Many thanks also to Anthony Denham and Charlie Mallock for being on stand duty on Saturday and to Mark Charteris for helping on Sunday.
This show is always very well attended and we welcomed and chatted to a large number of visitors about Classic Clubmans with several car owners very keen to join us this season with a variety of cars from all classes.
It is always good to catch up with old Clubmans folk and on Sunday a driver, who raced regularly in the early 1970’s, visited the stand. It was Martin White who raced a MAE engined 1 ltr Mk 11 Mallock. Looking through the records Martin, a front runner in this class, raced at the 1973 Gold Cup meeting at Oulton Park, racing in this class with Creighton Brown, Derek Walker and Keith Norman among others. It was great for Martin to chat with Mike Sales as, of course, Mike shared many a grid with him during that period. Martin has been invited to join old friends, in the hospitality marquee, at one of our race meetings, sometime this year.
Classic Clubmans will be back at the Gold Cup meeting this season,
This was a really successful show for HSCC and Classic Clubmans.
