Adam Wheeler, shown here in the orange Mallock MK16, returned for his first race meeting of the season to a very satisfying 2nd place in B class for both races at a stonkingly hot Cadwell Park on 18th June. It was an all action day for Classic Clubmans, with practice and 2 races on the same day. Mark Charteris and John Harrison in their usual 1 – 2 led the way for the A class with Alan Cook and David Wale giving consistent performances in 3rd and 4th places. B class opponents Clive Wood & Barry Webb gained a win apiece with the aforementioned Adam keeping them on their toes and with Trish Hunter( Driver of then Day ) taking full advantage of Clive’s off in the 2nd race to gain a well deserved 3rd place. Pippa Tanner-Wood, out for the 2nd time in her first ever racing season, in a B class Mallock Mk16 improved impressively over the weekend with her fastest lap of 1.46.5. Proud Dad, Clive couldn’t have wished for a better Father’s Day !!
Another returnee was Mike Sales in the invitation class with his Phantom P79 ( car not regs ready for 2017 season hence invitation class) who had a very vigorous dice in the 2nd race with John Bowles, also in the invitation class, with his Lola T492. Sadly Mike had to retire before the end of the race so the invitation class results were Roger Waite (Royale S2000M) 1st and John 2nd.
Other B class competitors, John Muirhead ( Mallock MK18 ), Steve Littler ( Mallock MK18B), and Phil Hart ( Mallock Mk16 ) all contributed to a great couple of races.
Fastest laps went to A Class – Mark Charteris (1st & 2nd races), B Class – Adam Wheeler (1st race ) Barry Webb (2nd race) Inv Class – Roger Waite (1st & 2nd races
The hospitality team, Kerry & Katy, kept everyone fully fed and watered which was a big achievement considering the heat (hot, hot, hot!!) and the timetable (busy, busy, busy!!). Well done girls.
